Reid Street pupils were fascinated to hear from mountaineer Steve Graham in a recent assembly. He told them all about the mountains he has climbed in his ‘seven summit’ challenge. Pupils were amazed to hear about the -80 degree temperatures and 200 mile an hour winds he may experience during his next climb – Mount Everest. He brought some of the clothing and equipment he will need to survive and everyone enjoyed seeing Mr Banks dressed up as a mountaineer. At the end of the week, all pupils took part in their own ‘climb’ doing the same amount of steps each that Steve will need to get to the top of the world’s highest mountain. This was a sponsored event and will raise essential funds for St Teresa’s Hospice. A BIG thank you to Morrisons, who have agreed to match fund money raised by Mrs Appleby.
