Congratulations to each member of our RotaKids for winning the vote in their class.
Every year, as one part of our school focus on the British Value of democracy, we hold elections in school for our RotaKids representatives. Individual pupils put themselves forward for this highly regarded role and, through presentations and speeches, convince their class mates to vote for them. Throughout the year, RotaKids meets regularly to discuss ways to enhance the lives of the pupils of Reid Street and their families. They bring with them to meetings the suggestions and ideas of their peers and engage in a range of debates, discussions and planning sessions.
RotaKids is designed to engage children to come up with projects they want to facilitate that will can benefit individuals, their school and the local community. In doing so it teaches them leadership skills, selflessness and gives them confidence as young people.
RotaKids clubs are based in schools and with the help and support from teachers and the local Rotary club, children can gain a valuable experience in helping others and learning interesting, new things. By doing so, children enjoy a boost to their confidence and self-esteem at a key age and develop an understanding of how their actions can impact on others.
It also brings an exciting and practical approach to supporting the PSHE element of the National Curriculum.
Last term we raised £640.68 for the Guide Dogs Trust, which was our chosen charity. This Spring term we have chosen to support the British Heart Foundation.
